Volunteer Mediator Application Process

In order to apply to become a Volunteer Community Mediator, you must:

  • Attend an orientation session.
  • Complete the volunteer application. Click¬†HERE for the application in Microsoft Word, which should then be emailed to the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Complete an in-person interview. Those who are selected through this competitive process must then:
  • Receive 55 hours of mediator training from Community Mediation Program, [or our partner organization, Community Mediation Maryland].
  • Complete an apprenticeship, including 2 observations and 2 co-mediations with an experienced CM mediator.
  • Return for¬† two 8 hour follow-up session, for a total of 71hours of training.
  • Attend at least 8 hours of in-service trainings each year
