Annual David Thomas Peace Vigil

Every January, Community Mediation’s AmeriCorps members organize a vigil to honor the lives of people who lost their lives to violence in Baltimore City, in the previous year. Each name is read aloud, and a candle is lit for each soul. Community Mediation works throughout the year to reduce violence in Baltimore City by offering free mediation services at ANY point in a conflict. Each year begins with this vigil, to remind us how important peace work is, and to hold on to the Light of each life that ended due to violence. The peace vigil is named after David Thomas, son and brother of two of our committed volunteers. David lost his life to violence in 2007.

2016′s vigil will be held Thursday Jan. 28th at Community Mediation, and will bring together people from all over who are committed to creating a peaceful Baltimore. Experience the vigil in this video:
